Founder and past Chairman…..Anthony Starling Lark

The Sea Safety Group was formed in 1985 due to the horrific number of fishing boats being run down by large ships in European waters with heavy loss of life within the industry. We brought together all classes of Fishermen together with Coastal and Foreign going mariners to discuss and try to bring understanding of each other's problems. It has been very successful and continues in the industry today with Coastwatch Stations working with the Coastguard and the Authorities to make for safer seas.

The SSG works on behalf of its partner stations on all matters of sea safety and liaises with The Maritime and Coastguard Agency on administration matters relating to its DFS stations.
