Coastwatch Redcar is operational 7 days per week 365days a year. To achieve this capability we have a team of dedicated voluntary watchkeepers and trustees. Watchkeepers are asked to commit to at least 4 hours a week on a rota basis to enable operations to run effectively.

Our unpaid volunteers are drawn from all walks of life, some have a maritime background others ex-military, also  industry, blue light personnel, nursing etc. Maritime experience is welcome but not essential as on the job full training is given over a mutual period.

Ideally the work would suit retired persons looking to contribute to the local community and to discover new rewarding abilities.

Coastwatch Redcar operates with authority from HM Coastguard and we operate under criteria issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). If you feel the role of a watchkeeper is voluntary work you would consider, then in the first instance please submit the application form.
